 Some of the common fancy dog breeds

Pomeranian :

                     It is a dog breed of spitz type, and the breed is named after pomerania region of north-west poland and north-east Germany. It is classified as toy type dog breed. This dog breed is extremely loyal to its owner and is one of the best guard breed eventhough of diminutive character. Pomeranian has thick long double hair coat which required frequent grooming and bath.

Common health problems for Pomeranian breed?

         Most of the problems are of hereditary in nature. Some of them are

                     Patellar luxation

                     Progressive retinal atrophy

Other health problems include skin related diseases like pyoderma and other ecto-parasite infestations.

They have life span of 13-16 years. 

Dachshund:

                      It is a miniature dog breed and is very affectionate with their owners. They are also known as weiner dog. It is a short legged long bodied dog breed. They are usually bred to fight badgers. 

Common diseases affecting dachshund dog breeds? 

           Almost 80% of the dog breed are facing dental related problems. 
           These dog breeds are more prone to viral diseases like parvo, Canine distemper. 
            Obesity 
           Ecto-parasite infestations. 

Poodle :

               This breed believed to have its origin from Germany. It comes from three varieties 

                    Standard poodle

                    Miniature poodle & 

                    Toy poodle

They have curly dense coat, colours include brown, white, black, apricot. They are one of the best performing show breeds. The ears should fold over close to body. 

Common diseases affecting poodles? 

 Glaucoma is one of the common disease condition of poodle and other diseases like parvo and Canine distemper viral diseases. 

 Shih tzu :

               The name shih tzu suggests little lion. These dogs sport long silky hair with black, silver, blue and more. They are small but sturdy dog breed with a lush, long, double hair coat. They are known to be originated from Tibet. 

Common disease condition affecting shih tzu breed? 

Some of the hereditary diseases affecting shih tzu breed include 

                 Brachycephalic syndrome 

                 Intervertebral Disc disease 

                 Kerato conjunctivitis sicca (dry eyes) 

                Distichiasis. 

Chihuahua :

                      It is one of the smallest dog breed named after Mexican city chihuahuas. They have smooth and long coat breed varieties. They are known for their big, erect ears and large prominent eyes. Their personality is comparable with terriers. 

Common disease conditions affecting Chihuahua? 

               Epilepsy 

               Tracheal collapse 

               Heart diseases

               Dislocating knee caps

               Dental diseases

               Patellar luxation. 

Pug :

              This breed is believed to be originated from China. Pugs were once the pets of royalty and the companion of monks. This breed is characterised by wrinkly short muzzled face and curved tail. The body has fine glossy coat with varying colours with mostly light brown to black colour. The eyes protrude somewat and making them easily prone to trauma. Due to short muzzle they can sustain well in hot and humid conditions and must be observed for heat stroke. 

 Common disease conditions affecting pug?

         Most common problem include       Brachycephalic airway obstruction, 
  Pugs are prone to allergic itchy skin, due to presence of wrinkles in skin can trap dirt and moisture which attracts more bacteria and fungal based skin infections. 
   Patellar luxation 
   Pug dog encephalitis. 

Samoyed :

                     This breed is of medium sized herding dog with thick white double layed coat. It's name is derived from samoyedic people of siberia. The ears of this breed is prick and head is broad. The corners of the lips curl up to givr characteristic sammie smile. This breed has dark pigment around nose, eyes and lips. 

Most common disease conditions affecting samoyed? 

           Hip dysplasia 

           Progressive retinal atrophy 

           Glaucoma 

           Hypothyroidism 

           Skin infections. 

Chow chow :

                         Chow Chow  dog breed is orgiginally from Northern China. This dog breed is sturdy with broad skull and small, triangular ears with rounded tips. This dog breed is well known for it's double coat. 

Most common diseases affecting Chow Chow breed are 

             Glaucoma 
             Entropion
             Cataract 
             Lymphoma
             Diabetes mellitus 
             Hip dysplasia 
             Gastric cancers. 

Note :

          Netherland is the only country without any stray dogs. However islamic states makes it impossible to have a pet, let alone dogs

                           Pioderma name itself suggests pus in the skin. It can be caused by infectious, inflammation or neoplastic ( cancer) in origin. It is defined as any condition that results in neutrophilic accumulation beneath the skin, it is mainly due to bacterial skin infection.
