PROS & CONS OF DEWORMING
PROS :
Deworming is an important preventive measure for both ecto and endo-parasite infection.
It decreases Anaemia and improves animal health.
Increased resistance to infections.
Improved growth rate of animals.
Physical and mental wellbeing of animal.
Decrease chance of secondary bacterial infections due to good immune response.
Cons :
Overdosage of deworming drug leads to
Desentry (bloody diarrhoea)
Loss of body fluids
Development of convulsions
Lack of appetite
Coma
Death
Note :
Recommended times of deworming for a puppy or kitten:
Once in 15 days up to 3 months of age. Once in every month up to 6 months of age.
Once in 3 months through out the life.
Deworming drugs:
Eazypet :
( Pyrantal pamoate, praziquintol, fenbendazole ).
Broad spectrum dewormer for nematodes, ascarids, hookworms in puppies and young dogs.
Dosage : 1 tablet per 10 kg bwt.
( ivermectin)
Treatment for intestinal worms, mites, lices which include mange infestation.
Dosage : 1tablet per 20kg bwt.
Note:
Dog breeds sensitive to ivermectin are Australian shepherd, German shepherd, sheep dog breeds, long haired whippet, silken windhound, skye terrier,coolie breeds etc.
